Physics teachers have a life too.........

We get fed up with being stereotyped as boring people. We do try to make Physics interesting - not easy when half the classes give up saying "but we've been told it doesn't matter, and biology is easier....".

So we try to liven it up by:

And all that was just at Patchway. The Spidercox empire lives on as its members moved on to other schools. For example, at Downend:

There is a better experiment where if you get the spark in the right place (on the forearm near the elbow) you can make your whole arm twitch uncontrollably.

Next, the famous custard powder experiment - even more respect is gained from students if you can singe your eyebrows with this one.

There was another member of the Spidercox team - Lucian McLellan. A very interesting character, he added to his colourful history with a totally new method of flame tests (don't try this one at home)

An honorary mention though for the great Mrs Arnold, so confident with her chemistry that she conned me out of a tenner and set fire to it.

And how's this for an offering from our Health and Safety rep ?

Karin has now moved on to Hanham High School and is busy allowing her sixth form raise money for the Tourette's Syndrome charity with a swear chart. The 2002/3 total was £15 and that has already been exceeded by year 13 (and it's only October).

But we are open to suggestions - how else would you make Physics lessons interesting ?
